Summer Siesta!

Do you know what I like about summer time? 1. It's being able to sleep late,  wake up late, and sleep after lunch time - "siesta". 2. It's being able to choose not to do anything! I just love it! credit Taking SIESTA or POWER NAPPING after lunch is beneficial too! S - strengthens our heart I - ignites our learning E - energizes our body S - sparks our brain T - tames our tongue (lol) A - antidote to stress Sad thing is we can't do this while at work  (unless you lock yourself in a room, or rest room, and  make sure nobody sees you!). Great thing is now I have the whole summer to do it! :)) Yay for summer! NAMASTE. -day 158

I played defense last Sunday, our last game for the Gallup Adult Soccer - all Women's Team Spring 2012 season, and for the first time we won! 4-1 Wooohooo! With all the body aches and heart pounding runs, I've learned a lot about soccer and playing per se . S how up          O wn the game!            C reate memories             C orner the ball :)                E nliven your spirit!                  R equest for sub! Lol! Try Reflexology!

Maybe, if I didn't study Reflexology six years ago, Mimoi, my youngest wouldn't be born!(Mymy, my eldest, is 4 years older.) It was with all the pressing and applying of pressure that surely triggered it! ( As we memorized the chart , we all practiced by giving our classmates free reflexology- everyday for a month, if I remembered right!) It was a good summer, and after a month, I found myself pregnant!!! (thanks to Reflexology!) Reflexology or zone therapy is a popular alternative therapy and natural art or way of healing. Some may not believe in its power but I say there's nothing to lose. I think it actually helps in reducing tension,  stress and pains, and encourages the body to its natural overall healing. You may also do it on your own, or ask your spouse to help you apply pressure to certain areas of the hand, feet or face that according to the beliefs of the practitioners correspond with organ in the "zones" of the body. Here's are guides for hands, ...

Mimoi joins Gallup Little League!

Tee ball or t-ball is like baseball for kids ages 3-4 and 5-6. According to Wikipedia , in t-ball, the pitcher is usually used for defensive purposes only. The ball is placed on an adjustable tee atop (see photo below) the home plate at a suitable height for the batter to strike. Score is not kept and rules are designed to maximize participation: an inning is completed once each child has had a turn at bat and all extra players of the defensive team play in the outfield every inning. To encourage the defensive team to try to make plays, there are typically no extra bases on overthrows and runners may not advance after the ball is in possession of an infielder. Mimoi's first Tee ball experience! Last April 29, 2012 the Tee ball Opening Day Ceremonies was held at the Ford Canyon Park, Mickey Mantle Field, Gallup, New Mexico. It was well attended, parents were busy taking pictures and videos, kids were all in uniform, excited and had the time of their lives! Tee ball team...

Soccer, Volleyball and Badminton- Err- ERRORS!

Photo credit: diaryoffatwoman.blogspot.com Gallup Adult Soccer Team Daisy Dukes vs. Sparks April 29, 2012 3:30pm I just made three penalties in our game today!!! wahhhhh! 1. CATCHING THE BALL. As the ball was kicked to the goal by our opponent, in an instinct, I tried to catch the ball! .. Ok, I am playing at Gallup Adult Soccer League Team, a newbie! .. and I've yet to internalize the rules! Funny, but prior to today's game, we were playing Volleyball yesterday, and the volleyball player in me took over! Referee's decision: Opponent's point! 2. TOUCHING THE BALL. I was assigned as a defense, while trying to defend the ball from entering the goalie's territory, the ball touched my shoulder! .. another error!!! Opponent got to play a free kick! 3. PASS BACK TO KEEPER.  The ball came to my stance, and was accidentally kicked to my keeper! OMG! It was not intentional, and even if it was, I wouldn't even know what it meant! Refe...

Blocked

I have a big problem. I think I just had a writer's block! source The thing is my husband and I have started watching this TV series called "Maging Sino Ka Man", just 2 nights ago! ... my this show is addicting! Maybe that's why I can't seem to write anything! My mind is pretty preoccupied! hehe According to Wikipedia, Maging Sino Ka Man (lit. Whoever You May Be ) is a critically acclaimed Filipino primetime drama series that premiered on ABS-CBN on October 9, 2006. Book 1 ended on May 25, 2007. Due to it's success, a sequel was aired on December 10 the same year it ended. mskm‑050907.JPG Well, I guess, I've found a good resource!!! Since I am now reading the plot via Wikipedia hehe... There are 12 parts in Book 1 and well, we are just on Part 1. We will be watching this for days for sure! I just warned hubby not to watch the drama without me! Now, I have added something to do! Yay! My weekends have become busy. Remember I am now playing volleyball, badmin...

I play SOCCER!!!

Prior to entering 2nd year college, we were interviewed, one by one by our College Assistant Dean.  He looked at my grades and then asked, "Are you sure you want to major in Computer Technology?", I said, "Yes Sir!", he blurted "Mmmm... why not PE?" PE was my lowest grade! "Are you OK sir?", I answered, "As you can see, I do have the lowest grade in PE!!!" I wasn't into sports, well, during high school days, I did play Volleyball with my friends. The homeowner's association would organize summer sports for youth, and I was part of that. I did have PE classes - table tennis and dance! and I did play fun running and other games when I was a kid! But that's about it! I mean, I would rather read and write than play sports! So, I kinda surprised myself yesterday BECAUSE for the very first time in my entire life, I PLAYED SOCCER (the whole 9 yards!) Well, I was in for a surprise! I was catching my breath the whole time!!!   I ha...

Run, Gemma, RUN!

After too long years we played children's game again!  Cebuanos call it "Buwan-buwan". My heart was pumping hard!!! This was way better than Zumba!   The game also got me thinking to start running as a form of exercise already! THREE REASONS WHY: 1. I want to fit into my old pants again! 2. I've been delaying this activity for too long already! Too many excuses - not good! 3. I want my "recollection/retreat" time - this could be it! It was a great way to end our Spring break- I wish we'll have snow day tomorrow! Lol! Thanks playmates! March 17, 2012 Bebeth's residence Farmington, New Mexico Photographer: Mario Mari -day 93-

To thine own self be true!

OK. Last January 8, 2012 , I challenged myself to lose weight!  Determined, inspired and committed, I was able to lose 9 lbs in a month. See my results after a month (February 8, 2012) here . I was still eating 3x a day, still with rice (just less), meat (chicken, pork, beef), fish and veggies.  Fruits, nuts and pop corns during break times and I exercise! The problem is, I need to keep up, I need to continue!!!  I have 10 more pounds to lose and I am faltering!!! All fattening foods just taste good! Look at all these Filipino foods!...  How can one resist eating these without RICE and more RICE!!!??? 3961165_f520.jpg lechon.jpg l mindanao‑food4.jpg How will I be able to control myself from eating and eating and eating?? The thinking part of me says "We live only once, enjoy!" The emotional part of me says "Be happy! Life is meant for happiness! Food makes you happy!" The spiritual part of me says "Those who won't work, won't eat. You work, you eat! Th...

Yummy Treats :)

I wasn't able to resist eating all the sweets in the birthday celebrators' table last weekend.    Since I don't want to restrict and torture myself from enjoying the food, I tasted, nope, ate everything and anything that was offered! Do I feel bad (now) from eating it? No. Even if I'm trying to adapt the "healthy eating lifestyle", it also wouldn't hurt to eat caloric, not too healthy and yummy treats once in a while.  Beating myself up, feeling negative about it and being too "strict" are not the way to go.  The one day, or one night of "falling off the wagon" won't stop me from reaching my goal, long term. Is that good justification enough? LOL! NAMASTE. -day 61-
