Imbalance

For years, I’ve never had a credit card. A friend literally shouted at me when I looked at the application form. He said, “DON’T YOU DARE APPLY!!!” and so I didn’t. I didn’t even try to mind  what effects they were trying to tell me if I own one.  Come 2007, in the land of milk and honey?!, I was forced to apply for a credit card. “Credit cards are needed to have credit scores”; “It is a must here!”; “Everyone’s got a credit card!”; “No we don’t carry cash, we carry cards”. So I did get one, nope, two, nope, three, nope… OK, to date I have 8 cards!!!!  Yes, I’ve been managing my accounts really well, never had a month without paying, at least the minimum amount. Yes, credit cards made us survive financial turbulence! Yes, credit cards made me say YES, YES, YES!  Since coming here in the land of the free?!, never had we stayed home for long breaks.. we’ve travelled and travelled far to beautiful places, checked in to different hotels, ate, bought, spent… NO budgeting,...

365 days

365 days I've always wanted to write everyday. But that WANT never came to pass. I seem to have a lot of excuses for it.. even if my mind is asking me too. So I've created another blog site, this time, with high hopes that I'd be able to write insights on living, loving and learning DAILY :) One day at a time... one story at a time.. for 365 days. So here I am again... Claiming that I am a person in her sacred quest.. mmmmm Knowing that there is so much more to my realities, or illusions? That there is so much more that I haven’t tapped. That there is so much more to do, to write, to be… That the best is yet to come.. and believing that I am in the lifelong process of discovering, unfolding, demystifying.. the real me deep down.. I hope that you'd join me as I write my her heart out... Stories of my life. Stories to share. Stories to learn about. Stories to read. Positive that as I uncover mysteries of life in its simplicity and beauty, YOU will also be able to relate, ...

180 degree

“Lord, give me a boyfriend, pleaseeeeeeee….” I was 15 then and I still had no boyfriend. I belonged to NBSB club – No Boyfriend Since Birth! My life was going well though, I was getting A’s in school, and yes, I had boys as friends but never a boyfriend!!! Oh I had fun memories with boys.. I had this neighbor who was my long time crush, he was just so good-looking.. I really liked him!!! So, I went to this very small store in our subdivision, and as I was walking, minding my business, singing and humming.and then I looked up.. OMG, my long time crush was staring at me with smile on his face.. my heart thumped so fast that when I took another step towards him, my slipper slipped off my feet!!! I was so embarrassed, but to show him how confident I was, I continued singing and humming as I went back to get my slippers! :0 One more, when I was a freshman in high school, I met this senior guy, that every time he’d see me, he’d tease me to his friend, who was also a senior! There was this on...

StReSsEd!!!

“I realize that I will never have control of what other people think of me, what they say about me or what other people told them about me… all these, I have no control of BUT, I can control ME. People will always have something to say, but at the end of the day, what matters is what I am saying to myself! People may pressure me because, I do not conform to their social ways, but that doesn’t matter, for as long as I know who I am and what direction I am going, then I am fine.” Or am I? There are many forms of stress. The one stress that is beyond our control and that we shouldn’t even try to control is the behavior of other people. Particularly, people who back fight, people who falsely accuse you, or people who just want to make you feel bad. I learned early on that we cannot please everybody. There will always be people who are for us, and against us, and along the way lessons will be learned. I held on to that. My funny story was that yesterday, my boss came to tell me that a pr...

A Knowing…

I live my life knowing that my prayers are already answered. What about you? Do you live your life knowing that your prayers are already answered? This is a bold statement that I am trying to ingest as I write. To live my life knowing my prayers have already been answered. A great faith and yet it feels scary. Scary because it is not human-like. It seems that 100% there is nothing to worry about, nothing to fear, nothing to be scared of, nothing to even think about but my wants, needs, dreams and goals. A perfect statement? So when I say I live my life knowing my prayers are already answered. What I am actually telling myself are three things: First thing is Let Go and Let God. To let go of my need to force things to happen. To let go of worries, fears, and just be like the birds in the skies free as they just let it be. To just give it up and Let God take control. It’s also easy to say but sometimes it’s pretty difficult to put into action. But then say, we have a problem, sometimes...

Amidst Negativity!

“You’ve got nothing better to do!” ,“You better get out of my face!”, “I can’t do this.. I’m just Filipino!” Every day, every minute, negativity surrounds us. The moment we wake up we hear bad news in the radio, TV, internet. The thing is, it is not only in the news that we hear negativity; it’s from the people around us, people we love, our friends, our co-workers… There will always be people who make us feel inferior, people who whine too much, people who disrespect us, people who put us down, people who abuse us. But do you know what the worst kind is? The worst kind is when that person is none other than our very own selves. The scenario is we cannot avoid negativity or toxicity in our lives. It will always be around us and within us. The good news is there’s a way out! Thank God! The question is how do we do that? How do we live our lives amidst the negativity? How do we shape our outer world in such a way that it would protect our inner selves? First things first, we must remembe...
