Jack of All Trades

My parents gave me all the opportunities to try and do different activities while growing up.

I did ballet. I had swimming lessons; I joined theatre arts; I had piano recitals; I learned bicycling; I played volleyball; I was one of the editors in our school paper. I was even a member of University Quiz Bee contest called "Pautakan", representing our college for 3 years!

In high school, I admired students who could do Impromptu Speeches. You see, I could memorize long scripts, I could compose essays but to speak my mind in a contest? Whoa!

I guess, I carried that thought - wishful thinking with me, even after college, that it led me to become a member of Toastmaster's International in Makati, Philippines and then here in Gallup, NM, USA!

Do I still know how to ballet dance? Mmmm... Lol!
Swim? Mmmm... not where I can't touch the floor or sand, OK?  hehe
Play piano? Mmmm... I can do two piano pieces? Will that count? hahaha
Act? Oh yes! Could I count acting sick, so my husband will do all the housework? ROTFL!

I thank my parents for the opportunities they had given me. All those activities helped me to know myself more. It molded me to become the person I am today.

Exposure to so many activities made me realize my core gifts too.

Today, I continue to write, speak and share my thoughts because those are my core gifts. Gifts that I can share to the world. By doing those, I feel alive, happy, fulfilled, passionate and grateful.

I guess becoming a jack of all trades isn't bad after all. Because, one day soon, you'll just know your passion. One day, soon, you'll just know your calling. One day, soon, you'll just know, you found yourself.

NAMASTE.

Redirecting Thoughts!

Sometimes, we forget to take control of our minds. There are times that we just do a lot of things out of habit. We do a lot of things unconsciously. These days, whenever I find myself “thinking”, I am making sure I am thinking productive things. What will I do next?; What are my plans today?;How will I go about today’s activities? If alone in the car, driving, I’d deliberately turn on the positive, encouraging radio station, since their kind of music is good for the soul. I could listen and know that it is all good. As much as possible, I try not to think of negative or bad things. Why? Because I’ve proven that whenever I do that, it boomerangs on me! There was this one time when I felt so pissed off with my husband that my mind was just creating all these negative vibes! Asked what happened next? The more my husband got pissed off. I wasn’t even saying anything, it was all mind power, and it hasn’t done any good! So I experimented the next time it happened, ins...

Overspeeding!!!

credit While driving, a police car passed me by, turned around and followed me. I slowed down.  credit It gave a warning for me to stop. I did.  I was running a lot of excuses in my mind but decided to put it all aside. I prayed instead - Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be. A police women came. "Hi!" I said, "Hello!" "Ok", she said, "I pulled you over, because you were running at 60mph in a 45 lane". I said "I'm sorry". She said "Now do you have driver's license, registration and insurance?" I said, "Yes". There was a pause (Oh, I guess, this was the time when I should have given her everything already), she repeated, "So, you do have your driver's license, registration and insurance?" I said, "Yes", and took out my driver's license.  She took it, and said, "so you've never been stopped before?" I said, ...
