I Promised.

Last December 12 at 11:02 pm I made an agreement with myself that I will write everyday for 365 days. I told myself I will write insights on living, loving and learning DAILY. One day at a time, one story at a time, for 365 days.

I now realize, since it’s 12:43 midnight here already, on my 9th day, how hard it is to keep an "agreement". I promise myself I will do it  and this time, I will make my life work, by keeping it.

Difficult, but I know, something good will come out of this, so I write. What will help I know is to manage my time properly and that will be my next goal.

Why do I need to keep this promise when I can always make an excuse? Because, I remember this from OCCI seminars;

Read on.

Your life works exactly to the degree that you keep your agreements. An agreement has integrity because you make it, and for no other reason.

The most profound agreements you make in life are those you make to yourself. The purpose of an agreement is to have life work, that is, to derive satisfaction from it and nurture life itself.

The mind wants what it wants when it wants it and if an agreement gets in the way, the mind will go for breaking the agreement in order to get what it wants. The mind will go for immediate gratification at the expense of long term satisfaction. Only with intention can you deal with your mind. The only way to long term satisfaction in life is keeping of agreements.

KEEP THEM and be responsible for them and your life works. Don’t keep them and your life doesn’t work. It’s that simple. This is not a game you play half way. It’s all or none

CHOOSE.

And so it is.

  7. Promises are made to be broken .Sometimes we can't keep up with our promises for a reason.

  8. As long as we make an effort to keep it, stay true ... we're good. We can't be too hard on ourselves.

  9. wow, I can't force myself to write everyday even if I promised too... :(

  10. Promises are kept to be broken. This is the usual comment when somebody issues a promise. Why make a promise when you couldn't keep it. Or else if you compel yourself of doing it, that's, compromise. And this is no good.

  11. That was my agreement a week before December 2010. It made me realized I can't make it and keep the agreement as I have my priorities. So Instead of doing 365 post. I will try to covered my absent "na lang" so if I missed two days post I will try to post 3 article in my blog to update my daily post. Althought it will not count as daily basis atleast in the end of the year I have 365 post. hahaha

  12. I'm doing this but as a Gratitude Journal. That way I don't have to think of topics to write about and will just concentrate on making my days more fun :)

  13. 365 days of writing is challenging. But I'm sure you can do it if you put your heart into it. Keep it up!

  14. Promises are not meant to be broken but sometimes it just happens... ;( we can't be too hard on ourselves but it's doesn't mean we should not strive hard to achieve our goal and our promises. We should do our best to keep our promises... I am always trying to keep mine.. ;)

  15. Very well said. But every time we broke our promises, be responsible of the consequences it may bring. I dont usually promise. I do things because I want to do it. Not doing it just not to break a promise. :)

  16. It is really hard to have an agreement or a promise. You're pressured to make it since you made a promise.

I really know the feeling! :P

  17. A promise is equals to responsibility. I am annoyed whenever I broke a promise especially to my children. In case of blogging, I don't pressure myself to right daily .

  18. Another dose of wisdom! I believe that if we promise something, we are not just saying it, but, we are already making a commitment... Thanks for sharing! =)

  19. it's okay not to perfect a goal, as long as your not giving up achieving it... soon you'll see, you've done better than last year. keep on posting. Yahweh bless.

  20. It's just a matter of discipline. No one will complain if you cannot comply with your own personal agreement. But it's your obligation to yourself. A very effective way to put your self-discipline to test which unfortunately, I don't have. hehehe.

  21. i ought to do the same thing, but since i have 10 blogs a post on 2 blogs per day should do :)

Redirecting Thoughts!

Sometimes, we forget to take control of our minds. There are times that we just do a lot of things out of habit. We do a lot of things unconsciously. These days, whenever I find myself “thinking”, I am making sure I am thinking productive things. What will I do next?; What are my plans today?;How will I go about today’s activities? If alone in the car, driving, I’d deliberately turn on the positive, encouraging radio station, since their kind of music is good for the soul. I could listen and know that it is all good. As much as possible, I try not to think of negative or bad things. Why? Because I’ve proven that whenever I do that, it boomerangs on me! There was this one time when I felt so pissed off with my husband that my mind was just creating all these negative vibes! Asked what happened next? The more my husband got pissed off. I wasn’t even saying anything, it was all mind power, and it hasn’t done any good! So I experimented the next time it happened, ins...

Overspeeding!!!

credit While driving, a police car passed me by, turned around and followed me. I slowed down.  credit It gave a warning for me to stop. I did.  I was running a lot of excuses in my mind but decided to put it all aside. I prayed instead - Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be. A police women came. "Hi!" I said, "Hello!" "Ok", she said, "I pulled you over, because you were running at 60mph in a 45 lane". I said "I'm sorry". She said "Now do you have driver's license, registration and insurance?" I said, "Yes". There was a pause (Oh, I guess, this was the time when I should have given her everything already), she repeated, "So, you do have your driver's license, registration and insurance?" I said, "Yes", and took out my driver's license.  She took it, and said, "so you've never been stopped before?" I said, ...
