I met an Atheist!

"C'mon Maria, there is no God!

I'm an Atheist. I don't go to church. There is no God!"

For the first time, in my entire life, I met an Atheist, in person!

I said, how can you not believe in God? There is life, life is God. Yes, he said, if life is God then I believe it, but not God, who is supreme power and directs our lives...

Just like Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy or God. There is no God. There is no Santa Claus. There is no Tooth Fairy.

He said, I'm not a bad person, I do my best. I give my all. I do what is necessary. I make things happen. But I don't believe in God. I don't have any church. I don't belong to any group.

He is a good person. He does his best, he is a kind man. He makes things happen and helps make the world a better place for him and the people around him.

Does it matter now, to me, what he does not believe in?

Will it matter now, to you, what he does not believe in?

Will I try to force him into making him believe there is one? To just prove my point? To let him know I am right? To make him realize I have all the answers? To judge he is wronged?

I say RESPECT.

I believe in God. He does not.

Period.

NAMASTE.

  1. To tell you the truth, I was raised as a catholic and went to a catholic school for HS and college but now I don't attend mass anymore and I don't believe in idols. I go to church to pray alone I feel closer to God that way, but I don't believe in a lot of stuff the Church is doing now. For me religion is a matter of choice, whatever it is, if your a Hindu, a muslim or a Christian, etc. as long as you are a better person that way, I will respect your beliefs. Yeah we need to respect each other all the time 'coz can't expect others to think like we do.

    1. Very well said here Vivi. What is disheartening to note is when people say they believe in God and shouts aloud they are CHRISTIANS but their actions don't tell they are.

I respect other people's beliefs. As for us. We just need to prove that God really exists in our lives for them to be convinced of what we believe in .

  2. I think it's best to just respect his beliefs.. it's hard to push our own to others.. maybe in time he'll realize it :)

  3. I also have a friend who does not believe in God. But I believe that God is a God of miracles. He will work in his life just like how He did with mine and my family's :)

  4. That's what faith is. You can't see it but we believe in it and maybe even at an atheist's perspective, we'll just have to respect and what matters is how we live and what we believe in.

  6. Yep, to each his own. Religion is a very sensitive topic.

  8. My beau hasn't been the kind of church goer, like me. But he believes in God and with praying. At first, I thought it was a form of hypocrisy: believing in God yet not going to church and listening to his great message. But then he made me realize.. for him, it was a matter of just having a personal relationship with God. The church is a sacred place for prayer. But prayer can also be done anywhere, and at anytime. I just realized that it truly is 'to each his own'. I respect those who've made a personal relationship with God, regardless of how people perceive things.

  9. Sometimes what we belief is not true to others. But we don't live to please them. As long as we believe to what we believe is right there's nothing wrong! :)

  10. I really appreciate this post because I'm a strong agnostic. In the Philippines, it's harder to "come out" as atheist/agnostic than to come out as gay since a lot of people will automatically label you as The Devil (which is weird since we don't believe in Satan, the same way we don't believe in the Christian God).

  11. I still go on the church even though deep in my heart I had some doubts for church people like the priest and others

  12. There is nothing to prove, we just have to respect what he believe in.

  13. RESPECT. this is what we all need to learn.
    I love how you reacted.

its weird, but this somehow reminds me of the lady gaga protest a few days ago.

  14. Or coexistence maybe the word. The good thing is, you two can still meet and discuss along the way. You two can still share thoughts and beliefs.

  15. Yes, its better to respect him, but it's also good if he would respect your religion as well... You must not be affected by what he said, God is real and I have faith in him.., well, people of low faith do this, but we can't do anything about them, all we can do is pray for him :)

  16. well, there are many religions in this world, many beliefs and we need to respect them. As long as they do good and believe that doing good to others is a key for being a righteous person.

  17. Respect is very important in matters about religion.

  18. Have friends that are atheists. We havent had a single argument. All we need is respect and listen to what they believe, show love and have them feel that they belong to the friendship.

  19. No matter what religion we have or even an atheists, what is important is that we observe respect and do good things to be a better person.

  20. I agree with Super Mommy Jean, respect is the only thing that matters.

  21. I am more of a spiritual person.
I believe that my FAITH is too personal
that I want to pray alone with myself
and GOD who is for me the SUPREME BEING
that lives in my heart wherever I may be.

Outside the Box!

Welcome to WEALTHY TUESDAYS! Money-Matters!   Let’s me face the fact.  The fact is anything can happen.  Everything is possible and possibilities are infinite. Good. Wait! Everything? Is possible? Infinite possibilities? Yes. That’s correct. (It is only our mind that sets limits; try pushing your mind beyond the box!) I learned from seminars I’ve attended in the past that  “If the intention is clear, then the mechanism will appear.” Formula: Intention 100% + Mechanism 0% = Achieved Goal 100% If my intention, (belief, purpose, faith) is clear then the mechanism (activity, action, system) will appear! ~ and that will make me achieve my goal! 100% intention that is ALL IT TAKES! Wow! Then, let me be clear: “I want financial wealth; I want more money, so I could be of more service to people esp. to my family, relatives and friends.” and “I want financial wealth; I want more money, so I could enjoy more of life’s grandeu...

The cursed HOW

In my blog post “ Powerful Thoughts ”, I have written how powerful our mind is and whatever we create in our minds, if we believe, it will achieve! How-To-Request-A-Mortgage-Rate-Adjustment-F Honestly, I did not have any idea as to HOW it will happen – (flashback, my solution for our family to be together and not have my husband work as an OFW anymore was to migrate).  HOW? that was the question!   All I have was a belief that it will happen,  158Belief.jpg and for me to mentally picture what I want to happen, I have posted dollar bills,  talk incessantly about going to America someday,  kept a dollar in my wallet just to attract it…       What else? I went to DFA in Lucena to get our passports!  That was how determined I was! epass_trans_small-1.png My aunt asked me “where are you going Gi?”,   I told her to DFA, to get our passports. She asked, “Why?”  ...

Say IT!

http://www.flickr.com/photos/70285332@N00/3032368925 "Show what you feel in relationships. If you feel like crying, cry your eyes out! When you feel like laughing, laugh your eyes out. Scream when you want to scream. Roll on the floor. Surprise everybody!" "Please don’t wait to communicate your feelings!" This came from Leo Buscaglia 's book Living, Loving and Learning . (click his name to know more about it.) For now, you would have known that I am a fan! Yes, I am! Just Say IT! I hate it when my husband will not talk to me because I did something wrong! I do not know why he needs to pamper the pain!!! I am his exact opposite because I just simply communicate what I feel, well, tactless at times but, I need the communication part, so that when I’m done with it, then it’s done.   Just LET ME KNOW! There are people who are afraid to communicate their feelings to the point that instead of directly telling "what's bugging them" with the particular...
