Destiny: A matter of . . . ?

Is destiny a matter of choice, or is it a matter of chance?
And does knowing really matter?

To clarify here’s what DESTINY means
  1. The events that will necessarily happen to a particular person or thing in the future.
  2. The hidden power believed to control what will happen in the future; fate.
Back home, Mommy has this display that says “Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice, it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.”

So, I went on with life, never questioning destiny. I knew I have an active part in what will happen in my future.

I know there is God and He has all the good planned out for me, but He has also given me free will to become the person that He really intends me to be… as for the future?... I've always believed in this song learned from high school...

God knows all about tomorrow,
He can see  beyond today..
Be it filled with joy or sorrow,
He has planned it that way..
So I do not fear the future, on His promises I stand,
God knows all about tomorrow, for He holds it in His hands.

Everything that I was doing, thought of doing, thinking of doing or plan to do will all have a positive and negative effect in my life.

Life may be full of “CHANCE”.  I won't call it coincidences or accidents, but rather opportunities or lessons... and I know, I will always have a "CHOICE" as to how I will perceive, act or learn from the “chances” that life continues to give me.

Interesting topic, destiny, and all of you who commented here, are all correct. I’m not a guru, not even an expert.. just wanting to excite your thoughts with something to think about…

Honestly for me, destiny is a matter of faith.

AND this I know, we create our future with the power of our thoughts. Whatever our mind can conceive and believe, it will achieve… including our destiny, with God's blessings :)

  1. When I was just a little girl
I asked my mother what will I be
    Will I be pretty
    Will I be rich
Here's what she said to me
    Que sera sera
    Whatever will be will be
The future's not ours to see
Que sera sera bwa ha ha if our faith is already written in the stars and the universe conspire with us then we have to call it destiny . It is by chance and a choice to make .

  5. I think we are all dealt a hand of cards when we are born. That part is destiny. The rest is choice when we decide how to play the hand.

  9. destiny - whew!!!!! pinsan paduduguin mo na naman ang ilong ko hehehehe....well ito lang naman ang thoughts ko about sa messages mo sa taas... para sa akin ...choices and destiny comes along THE WAY together ...."WHAT WE CHOOSE IS WHAT OUR DESTINY TOO".

...once we are created by the above ALMIGHTY with the use of our parents as an instruments syempre ..our parents have already a lots of plan of what we want to be by their on wishes but; time changes so fast,,,,,,,

we grow old and become matured, everything changes due to our "CHOICES" that we applied in life..... about WHAT we want and WHERE we want to be ...then,there our DESTINY changes because we are already in the right path to choose and decides in relation/connection to our gained knowledge given and feed by our parents, schools, teachers and others....in this we have the courage to apply our own talents and skills to find our own "DESTINY"..... fOR ME DESTINY IS WHAT/WHERE WE ARE NOW....influenced by the people around us.

Redirecting Thoughts!

Sometimes, we forget to take control of our minds. There are times that we just do a lot of things out of habit. We do a lot of things unconsciously. These days, whenever I find myself “thinking”, I am making sure I am thinking productive things. What will I do next?; What are my plans today?;How will I go about today’s activities? If alone in the car, driving, I’d deliberately turn on the positive, encouraging radio station, since their kind of music is good for the soul. I could listen and know that it is all good. As much as possible, I try not to think of negative or bad things. Why? Because I’ve proven that whenever I do that, it boomerangs on me! There was this one time when I felt so pissed off with my husband that my mind was just creating all these negative vibes! Asked what happened next? The more my husband got pissed off. I wasn’t even saying anything, it was all mind power, and it hasn’t done any good! So I experimented the next time it happened, ins...

Vitamins for the Mind

Vitamins for the Mind   by Jim Rohn Results At the end of each day, you should play back the tapes of your performance. The results should either applaud you or prod you. The greatest form of maturity is at harvest time. This is when we must learn how to reap without complaint if the amounts are small and how to reap without apology if the amounts are big. Life asks us to make measurable progress in reasonable time. That's why they make those fourth grade chairs so small—so you won't fit in them at age 25! There are some things you don't have to know how it works, only that it works. While some people are studying the roots, others are picking the fruit. It just depends on which end of this you want to get in on.    "Vitamins for the Mind" is a weekly sampling of original quotes on a specific topic taken from The Treasury of Quotes by Jim Rohn. The burgundy hardbound book with gold-foil lettering is a collection of...

Jack of All Trades

My parents gave me all the opportunities to try and do different activities while growing up. I did ballet. I had swimming lessons ; I joined theatre arts ; I had piano recitals ; I learned bicycling; I played volleyball; I was one of the editors in our school paper. I was even a member of University Quiz Bee contest called "Pautakan", representing our college for 3 years! In high school, I admired students who could do Impromptu Speeches. You see, I could memorize long scripts, I could compose essays but to speak my mind in a contest? Whoa! I guess, I carried that thought - wishful thinking with me, even after college, that it led me to become a member of Toastmaster's International in Makati, Philippines and then here in Gallup, NM, USA! Do I still know how to ballet dance? Mmmm... Lol! Swim? Mmmm... not where I can't touch the floor or sand, OK?  hehe Play piano? Mmmm... I can do two piano pieces? Will that count? hahaha Act? Oh yes! Could...
