The Challenge!

Back to Reality August 9, 2009 by Gigi

I am on the verge of becoming overweight! I now weigh 155 lbs! Prior to leaving the Philippines I was only 120plus lbs! And that was only 2 years ago! I need to do a lot of tummy tucking now.. otherwise I will always be tagged as pregnant!hahaha

I am giving myself one month to lose at least 20 lbs of this weight! I don’t know if it is doable but I am giving it a try. My weight plan? ummmm…. ummm… umm ok will just tell you after a month! hehehe

I wrote this in 2009; 2 years and 4 months later, I am of the same weight!!!

Back to Reality Part II   January 7, 2012

Friends here in Gallup, NM have started with Friday Nights' Hip Hop Abs Class!!! Well, I was absent on its initiation date which was last Dec. 30, 2011!

BUT, I was there yesterday (our 2nd session), excited to sweat!

My weight before jumping in: 153lbs
Weight after 60 minutes of class: 152.5lbs
Weight after eating what was in the table: 155lbs

Great Job! Lol!

But I am now determined! So today at 9am, I was with friends and joined the one hour Starlette Dance Studio’s Zumba class.

Oh my, with the work out, I am sure I’ll NOT eat again! That was the longest one hour of my life!!! It was a real good sweat!!! Never had that much sweat since coming here!!!

So, we’ll do it again.

Stumbled upon this nice website and here are what I found, which I know, I know, but I just know and knowing isn't doing me any good!... time to apply! :)

It is actually our FOOD CHOICES that make us gain weight! Not calories, not overeating and not lack of activity or exercise!

The solution: EAT THE RIGHT WAY

Our Enemies! (foods that are preventing us in burning fats)
1.    Sugar (including “healthy-claimed” foods like “healthy” cereals, low fat muffins, orange juice, whole wheat bread, salad dressings, granola, high fructose corn syrup, processed soy products and “healthy” yogurts)
2.    FatS – hydrogenated oils, canola and vegetable oil, margarine and substitute fake butter products
3.    Carbs that will not help (whole wheat bread or any bread, pasta, cereals, crackers)
4.    Processed Foods (all packaged snacks, microwavable meals, "diet" health bars and soy products)

healthy-food.jpg

Just EAT the GOOD STUFF!
          1.      Rice (Millet, Quinoa), Sprouted Grain Bread, Spelt, Sweet Potatoes (with a little butter and cinnamon)
2.      All fruits and vegetables! (no limit!)
3.      Eat the right kind of fat and you’ll burn fat! - real butter, whole eggs, extra virgin coconut oil, olive oil, avocado, raw nuts
4.      Food that contain not much processing but only one ingredient – steak, chicken, fish
5.    Just drink WATER!!! Skip the sodas, juices and ANY other drink - JUST WATER throughout the day!

  15. Reducing weight takes a lot of discipline and unwavering commitment to follow your plan. If you lack of it, don't expect that your weight is reduced. Since you've planned and started it, go ahead. Sooner or later, you have what you wanted to have.

  16. I think I will be joining you. haha I have to shed off around 30 pounds! I know that's too much but 3 months? ... @.@ We can do it! :)

  17. I have no weight goal. I maintain my body. I was size 10-12 when I was pregnant carrying 8.2lbs which equevalent to 7.2 kilos baby in my belly. I was fat that time I did full-breastfeeding for 9 months and take her for walk miles and miles, doing household chores was my greatest excercise and eat the right food for me and for my baby. That was my secret now I'm size 6-8. So pleased! hahah

Zumba is great way to lose weight. The only advice to you drink plentry of water. It helps to full your empty stomach whilst your carry on dancing. Once your sweating too much and your body working you'll feel hungry after your dance lessons. And it will end up of craving foods. Also tattoo in your mind that you don't need heavy meals anymore.

I'm happy for you girl. Go for healthy options and live healthy.

  18. Do not be sad or disappointed. You are only trying to lose weight for two year. I have been trying to gain weight for almost 10 years (not counting the months that I was pregnant)! Good luck to all of us!

  19. Being a foodie, this is a problem of mine too. I'm trying to lose some but food won't let me.. Not my fault then. I tried. Lol.

  20. count me in! i also need to loose 20 lbs in 3 months...but loosing weight should not be the goal (as my cute PT -personal trainer said), we could not see any weight loss bec it might be because we gained some muscles...we should aim for fat loss and in my case water loss too (bec i have water retention)...good luck to us!

  22. After exercise we tend to over eat so the end result was, useless din ang pag eexert mo ng effort to burn the calories .Discipline is the best practice .iwas sa sobrang sugar at carbs muna.

Redirecting Thoughts!

Sometimes, we forget to take control of our minds. There are times that we just do a lot of things out of habit. We do a lot of things unconsciously. These days, whenever I find myself “thinking”, I am making sure I am thinking productive things. What will I do next?; What are my plans today?;How will I go about today’s activities? If alone in the car, driving, I’d deliberately turn on the positive, encouraging radio station, since their kind of music is good for the soul. I could listen and know that it is all good. As much as possible, I try not to think of negative or bad things. Why? Because I’ve proven that whenever I do that, it boomerangs on me! There was this one time when I felt so pissed off with my husband that my mind was just creating all these negative vibes! Asked what happened next? The more my husband got pissed off. I wasn’t even saying anything, it was all mind power, and it hasn’t done any good! So I experimented the next time it happened, ins...

Vitamins for the Mind

Vitamins for the Mind   by Jim Rohn Results At the end of each day, you should play back the tapes of your performance. The results should either applaud you or prod you. The greatest form of maturity is at harvest time. This is when we must learn how to reap without complaint if the amounts are small and how to reap without apology if the amounts are big. Life asks us to make measurable progress in reasonable time. That's why they make those fourth grade chairs so small—so you won't fit in them at age 25! There are some things you don't have to know how it works, only that it works. While some people are studying the roots, others are picking the fruit. It just depends on which end of this you want to get in on.    "Vitamins for the Mind" is a weekly sampling of original quotes on a specific topic taken from The Treasury of Quotes by Jim Rohn. The burgundy hardbound book with gold-foil lettering is a collection of...

Jack of All Trades

My parents gave me all the opportunities to try and do different activities while growing up. I did ballet. I had swimming lessons ; I joined theatre arts ; I had piano recitals ; I learned bicycling; I played volleyball; I was one of the editors in our school paper. I was even a member of University Quiz Bee contest called "Pautakan", representing our college for 3 years! In high school, I admired students who could do Impromptu Speeches. You see, I could memorize long scripts, I could compose essays but to speak my mind in a contest? Whoa! I guess, I carried that thought - wishful thinking with me, even after college, that it led me to become a member of Toastmaster's International in Makati, Philippines and then here in Gallup, NM, USA! Do I still know how to ballet dance? Mmmm... Lol! Swim? Mmmm... not where I can't touch the floor or sand, OK?  hehe Play piano? Mmmm... I can do two piano pieces? Will that count? hahaha Act? Oh yes! Could...
