Is destiny a matter of chance? or a matter of choice?

(I’m not a guru, I'm not an expert but here is my "question" to the following question...)

 QUESTION
"Is destiny a matter of chance? or a matter of choice?"
(Thanks Ludee for the idea!)

  ANSWERED WITH A QUESTION
(will answer after comments :)

When I was 1st year in college, it was our vacation then, I told Mommy that I would like to work. I said that aloud, “I would like to work, but I’ll not look for work, I’ll let work come to me!”

She reminded me that for me to be able to fulfill my goal, I needed to do something about it!. I said, persistently, “No, I want to work, but I’ll let work find me!”.

She let me be.

The next day, my cousin came, looking for me, why? her mom, a bank manager, was looking for someone to help her do some income tax filing.

I told mommy, “See, work found me!” I took the summer job.

Now, tell me what was my destiny here? Was it a matter of chance or a matter of choice?

Destiny is a matter of chance... Even if we DON'T do anything if IT IS for us then IT will happen no matter what? Agree?

Or is it

Destiny is a matter of choice... We control by our thinking what will happen in the future, we unconsciously control unforeseen events by our thinking? Yes?

I'll wait for your answers! :))

  1. it's a combination of both it is not a thing to be awaited for it is a thing to be achieve , you said you waited for the job to come what if you don't like the job then you will have to choose to do it or not . Everything is a choice and a chance if a chance or opportunity comes and you are prepared for it then you make that decision, that is destiny but if you are not yet prepared and you don't like the chance that comes along then you will make that choice to let it go .

  2. Well for me there are chances or let me say opportunities that will come our way but it is still a matter of choice to grab such chances. Your choice to grab those opportunities will decide your destiny. - adelyn

  9. I don't think everybody will agree that what happens in our future is of our own doing. That theory is still very difficult to grasp, especially if it's out of our hands. Take for example my son's condition. I wouldn't, for the life of me, be able to understand that what happened was of my own imaginings in the past. There are a lot of things that happen out of our control. The only thing that we can do is make the most of what we've got. We will never know what The Universe or God will throw us. All we can do is make the choice to be happy no matter what and visualize the BEST for us. I think that being positive in life, seeing the GOOD in everything and everybody helps a lot. - len

  10. destiny is neither a matter of choice nor is it of chance.. for we have no control over it... but if you ask me nothing in life is ever certain except death and we all know for sure that death is going to come no matter what.... - chris

  11. chance comes first... then make a choice to make it happen. chance paves the way and make a choice of which way in life you will walk.... but always pray for HIS guidance.

  12. i believe that to have a better life, you have to work for it but i can't explain those people who are working their butts off but are still starving. i don't believe in juan tamads just waiting for the food to drop, anyway, God will provide, right? Nah, even the birds look for worms in order to feed. what i believe is we have to be good servants, make to the fullest what we are given. destiny or choice? it can be either. it can be combination of both. it can be neither. it's kinda complicated.

  13. “Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny."

  15. exactly Imelda- their is really no certainty what will be of us tomarrow... we dont even know the point and time of our death, so thats what i mean choice we take or chance we still dont know our out come.... you can take a choice but is it the wrong choice or the right choice? we can go by chance but then its like your waiting around for something.. i just give my will to our almighty father in heaven give up self will for my life and strength is in his hands choice and chance is the way the world thinks but not of God's people....just live for today and worry about tomarrow when it gets here.. for yesterday is gone and tomarrow doesn't even exist yet...its just like a beutiful woman her beauty on the outside is only that of a delussion but what is inside of her makes it a reality.... if the heart is as equal to the beauty outside then she is a perfect woman....so there for life itself can be like a perfect woman...dont worry about chance or choice just live and accept all things for what it is.. - chris

Redirecting Thoughts!

Sometimes, we forget to take control of our minds. There are times that we just do a lot of things out of habit. We do a lot of things unconsciously. These days, whenever I find myself “thinking”, I am making sure I am thinking productive things. What will I do next?; What are my plans today?;How will I go about today’s activities? If alone in the car, driving, I’d deliberately turn on the positive, encouraging radio station, since their kind of music is good for the soul. I could listen and know that it is all good. As much as possible, I try not to think of negative or bad things. Why? Because I’ve proven that whenever I do that, it boomerangs on me! There was this one time when I felt so pissed off with my husband that my mind was just creating all these negative vibes! Asked what happened next? The more my husband got pissed off. I wasn’t even saying anything, it was all mind power, and it hasn’t done any good! So I experimented the next time it happened, ins...

Vitamins for the Mind

Vitamins for the Mind   by Jim Rohn Results At the end of each day, you should play back the tapes of your performance. The results should either applaud you or prod you. The greatest form of maturity is at harvest time. This is when we must learn how to reap without complaint if the amounts are small and how to reap without apology if the amounts are big. Life asks us to make measurable progress in reasonable time. That's why they make those fourth grade chairs so small—so you won't fit in them at age 25! There are some things you don't have to know how it works, only that it works. While some people are studying the roots, others are picking the fruit. It just depends on which end of this you want to get in on.    "Vitamins for the Mind" is a weekly sampling of original quotes on a specific topic taken from The Treasury of Quotes by Jim Rohn. The burgundy hardbound book with gold-foil lettering is a collection of...

Jack of All Trades

My parents gave me all the opportunities to try and do different activities while growing up. I did ballet. I had swimming lessons ; I joined theatre arts ; I had piano recitals ; I learned bicycling; I played volleyball; I was one of the editors in our school paper. I was even a member of University Quiz Bee contest called "Pautakan", representing our college for 3 years! In high school, I admired students who could do Impromptu Speeches. You see, I could memorize long scripts, I could compose essays but to speak my mind in a contest? Whoa! I guess, I carried that thought - wishful thinking with me, even after college, that it led me to become a member of Toastmaster's International in Makati, Philippines and then here in Gallup, NM, USA! Do I still know how to ballet dance? Mmmm... Lol! Swim? Mmmm... not where I can't touch the floor or sand, OK?  hehe Play piano? Mmmm... I can do two piano pieces? Will that count? hahaha Act? Oh yes! Could...
